International Summer School in India (June15-July 26, 2013)

 

Three of the University of Tokyo(UTokyo) students participated in the International Summer School at the Jamia Milia Islamia, a national university in New Delhi on scholarships. The six-week long program, which was supported by the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of External Affairs, consisted of four weeks lectures by eminent academics and representative of Government on Indian history, economics, society, culture and politics. This was followed by a two-week volunteer experience with a NGO in Rajasthan. The students were able to take part in city tours over the weekends as well as a visit to the Rashtrapati Bhavan. A total of nineteen students were selected from nine different countries. Ms. Miyazaki a participant from the Faculty of Law, UTokyo said that she was able to gain first-hand experience of diversity and learn about being international.  It has been already announced that the program will take place next year and application from those wanting to participate are being invited. The application closes at the end of April 2014.
